Conference Overview
To accelerate a sustainable development of the aviation sector and related industries, the Center for Applied Economic, Social and Environmental Research (CAESER) and the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering (MAE) from the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) are hosting the second annual International Aviation Technology and Business Conference, which will be held on Friday Nov 15 at the Jockey Club Institute for Advanced Study, on HKUST campus.
This year, the conference will be focused on the theme of Low Altitude Economy (LAE), which encompasses the so-called Urban Air Mobility (UAM); LAE and UAM constitute the next big revolution for the aviation sector, a revolution which will ultimately lead the science-fiction fantasy of “flying cars” turning into reality. Such a revolution is about to happen, worldwide, and it will re-shape entirely the aviation sector, whether in terms of technology, economy, infrastructures, societal impact, etc. It is thus vital for Hong Kong and the Greater Bay Area to anticipate such a paradigm shift of the aviation sector, to get ready for the day it will occur. With that end in view, the conference will constitute a unique and pivotal concertation platform, fostering the dialogue among all key stakeholders concerned by this emerging industry and related businesses; By promoting exchanges among representatives from the industry, government, and academia, the conference will help figuring out how LAE and UAM could benefit Hong Kong and the Greater Bay Area, and vice versa.
Featuring internationally renowned speakers, this one-day conference will bring together aviation experts and business partners, to deliver insights into the latest technology advancements pertaining to LAE and UAM whilst paving the way to potential collaborations, partnerships and investment opportunities. The conference impacts and benefits will be two-fold, namely, a sharing of information among all stakeholders concerned with LAE, and their professional networking to foster the development of this industry in Hong Kong and the Greater Bay Area.
